Innovative LBS for social/public dimension
What is the project about?
EASPD has joined the INCLUSION – GALILEO consortium and participates in this project, which started in February 2010. This project, financed under the Seventh Framework Program of DG Reseach, European Commission, is focusing on accessible solutions for motor impaired people.
The INCLUSION main objective is to provide motor impaired persons with the possibility of improving their mobility in secure and safe conditions. To this purpose INCLUSION will develop a satellite navigation system that will allow wheelchair users to move from any point to any other point taking into consideration their accessibility needs. In addition, location-based services and further information tailored to their needs will be provided as well.
Potential impact
The primary effect of the INCLUSION solution will be the improvement of the mobility needs of persons with motor impairments, by allowing them to move autonomously without the need of support. Safety and security will be enhanced as well through services that address emergency situations.
As a consequence the quality of life of both motor impaired people and their carers will improve thanks to a raise of opportunities in terms of accessibility to services.
The project foresees also new business opportunities deriving by the introduction of the INCLUSION applications in the tourism and leisure market through the provision of directly usable information on accessibility which will be of benefit to a large number of potential customers.
