Conference to launch the Council of Europe Disability Strategy 2017-2023

The "Human rights: a reality for all" Conference aimed at launching the Council of Europe Disability Strategy 2017-2023 is taking place on the 27-28 March. EASPD's Secretary General, Luk Zelderloo, will participate in one of the panels.

60th anniversary of the Treaty of Rome #EU60

This publication summarises the milestones of the past 20 years whilst looking at the future challenges for the years to come to achieve high-quality support services for persons with disabilities in Europe.

On 21st March, major Employers in Social Services from 6 European Union Member States launched a Common Declaration on the Contribution of Social Services to Europe. At both the European Parliament and the European Economic and Social Committee, the Employers presented and discussed their views that establishing European Social Dialogue structures for social services would be an important factor in taking full advantage of the opportunities the sector offers in terms of social cohesion, economic growth and job creation.

Yesterday, the European Commission launched its country reports, analysing the economic and social challenges in the European Union Member States. Since 2013, the European Association of Service providers for Persons with Disabilities (EASPD) has been calling on the European Commission to do more to help develop high quality support services through these Country Reports and more broadly the European Semester. EASPD is pleased to see far more messages in the Country Reports aiming to break down barriers for persons with disabilities through high quality support services.

The European Association of Service providers for Persons with Disabilities (EASPD) launches two studies to provide evidence that developing inclusive labour markets for persons with disabilities brings economic and social return for governments, society, businesses and persons with disabilities.
