LAST CALL. Registration for the EASPD annual conference on inclusive employment in Zadar possible until the 10th April

From 7 to 8 May 2015, the conference “Persons with Disabilities in Employment: Inclusion through Jobs - Making it Real” will showcase best practises from across Europe on employment and disability. Participants will have the chance to understand what support persons with disabilities need to successfully integrate in the open labour market and to be able to access a job after finishing school. The nominees of the Employment for All awards will be presenting their candidatures and the 6th May EASPD organises a Project Development Workshop.  Don’t miss this opportunity. Registration is opened until 10 April. Read more
 

EASPD Workshops on inclusive employment in 7 different job areas

From 7 to 8 May 2015, the conference “Persons with Disabilities in Employment: Inclusion through Jobs - Making it Real” will showcase best practices from across Europe on employment and disability. All participants will have the opportunity to share their experiences and best practices during the different thematic workshops which will take place Thursday 7 May from 14:30-16:00. Read more
 

CIVIL SOCIETY EUROPE: Sitting in the driver's seat for change

Major European Networks of Associations have joined forces to create Civil Society Europe, a permanent space for horizontal exchanges and a strong voice for paradigm shift to restore and promote the values of equality, solidarity, democracy and inclusiveness among EU Member States and its people. NEW CAMPAIGN. Good practices on Employment: videos on Real Life Stories

Reaching Out: The Real Life Stories is a set of videos presenting examples on how to integrate people with disabilities into the labour market toward the inclusive society. The documentaries consist of three stories of employees with disabilities and employers from Finland, Belgium, and Hungary. These short films represent models of good practise on employment in the open labour market which enables them to make the transition from unwanted dependence to a full, productive and independent life through employment.  Each video is about 3-5 minutes long. POLICY UPDATES

Press Release: ‘What is the EU doing to implement the UN CRPD? The service providers perspective’

EASPD has sent a report to the United Nations (UN) compiling the views of service providers for persons with disabilities on the progress made towards ensuring compliance with the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD) by the European Union (EU). The report stresses the European Disability Strategy's lack of recognition of the role played by support services, whilst calling on the EU to adopt a “social investment approach”, overhauling its perception of services as a “cost”. Using the Social Clause to Re-boost Europe’s Social Objectives

Last year, EASPD commissioned a researcher, Professor Nikolaus Dimmel from the University of Salzburg, to do a legal analysis on article 9 of the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union; or in other words the horizontal social clause. Read more

TIDE project Hearing: ‘Towards Inclusive Development Education: It's Our World Too!’

The 20th April at the European Economic and Social Committee in Brussels, TIDE project partners organise a hearing on how to support people with an intellectual disability to become active global citizens and engage in key development issues with policy-makers. Read more
 

FINANCIAL STUDY on the European trends in the service providers sector

In 2014 a new project on the funding and the financial sustainability of the disability sector was presented at the General Assembly of EASPD in Oslo. If you want to take part and contribute to the research, you are still on time! Read more

 

OTHER NEWS

Zero Project launches its 2015 Report during the annual conference in Vienna

The Zero Project's fourth report looks at the implementation of the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities around the world and focuses on independent living and political participation. The report was officially presented during a conference in Vienna from the 25 to 27 February. Luk Zelderloo, EASPD Secretary General, participated to that conference and was part of the EEG delegation awarded as innovative practice. Read more
 

ICF Train Launches Online Toolkit

ICF-Train is an online platform for training in Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE), as well as Early Childhood Intervention (ECI). ECCE refers to education and care for all children up to the age of 8, whilst ECI is a support and educational system specifically developed for children who have been victims of, or who are at high risk of child abuse and/or neglect. Paving the way forward for effective work-life policies

COFACE is launching the European Reconciliation Package, a policy document, analysing, from a systemic approach the complex issue of work-life balance in the European Union. This document is the main policy outcome of the 2014 Year of Reconciling Work and Family Life in Europe. Read more

Putting all the pieces together can be challenging. You have all those shapes (funding streams), forms (project ideas) and colors (different partner profiles)... but how to get the final picture without getting puzzled? The 2015 edition of the EASPD Project Development Workshop wants to offer participants with 2 EXTRA DIMENSIONS on how to reach your goal! We will follow a “3D approach”. Read more
