EASPD expresses condolences to the families and friends of the victims of the Brussels attacks

The European Association of Service providers for Persons with Disabilities wishes to express its sincere condolences to the families and friends of the victims of the Brussels attacks occurred the 22nd March 2016. We also wish a prompt recovery for those been injured. We would like to call for social solidarity across borders and cultures as a core principle to continue building a free and inclusive Europe.

EASPD plays an active role in the 2016 Annual Convention for Inclusive Growth

On 21st March EASPD representatives played an active role in the 2016 Annual Convention for Inclusive Growth organised in Brussels by the European Commission (EC). The Convention brought together policy makers and civil society to discuss what the EU can do to ensure that all citizens reap the benefits of truly inclusive growth. Read more
 

New EASPD publication: “Five good practices on support services and independent living”

EASPD launches this new publication outlining five models of good practices in Europe with regard to support services and the implementation of article 19 of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. Read more

Eurochild releases ‘Level Up' animated video to demand a better present and future for children in Europe

In 'Level Up' a 10 years old boy, Max and his sister Laura would like to live happily with their family and spend their time playing and going to school. However, children in Europe can face real challenges; poverty led them to deprivation and has separated Laura from her family. Find out how Max and Laura fight the monsters and reach the final level. EP report on the implementation of the UN CRPD available in easy-to-read

The European Parliament has decided to produce an Easy-to-Read version of the draft report on the implementation of the UN CRPD in order to collect the contributions of persons with intellectual disabilities and their families. This initiative demonstrates an effort to actively involve the disability movement and consult them in a meaningful way. Read more

 

PROJECT UPDATES

Limiting legal capacity and access to justice is no longer an option

About 4.5 million people with intellectual disabilities live in the European Union (EU). Many disabled people are restricted in their legal capacity. They have a legal guardian who takes some or all decisions for them. Their access to justice is also limited due to the lack of accessibility or reasonable accommodation. Read more

Registration still open for the InLife international workshop in Luxembourg

How can comprehensive support for independent living and mobility of older people with cognitive impairments be achieved across Europe? What are their and their families/ carers primary needs, concerns and expectations from digital technologies and services? The InLife (INdependent LIving support Functions for the Elderly) International Workshop will address these questions and much more. The workshop will be held in Medetel, Luxembourg on 7th April 2016. The participation in the workshop is free. Read more
