The secret has been revealed in Zadar during the EASPD conference “Persons with Disabilities in Employment: Inclusion through Jobs - Making it Real”. The winners of the 2015 Employment for All awards are Elite Supported Employment Agency, Ltd (United Kingdom) as a best practice on providing support services in employment for persons with intellectual disabilities and La Fageda Fundació (Spain) for their work in facilitating quality job opportunities for individuals with mental illness and disabilities. Press Release. Zadar Conference: Commissioner Thyssen urges to combat unemployment of people with disabilities
'Much more needs to be done to combat the unacceptably low levels of people with disabilities in our workforce'. Commissioner Marianne Thyssen addressed this message to the audience during the 2015 EASPD annual conference on Employment in Zadar (Croatia). The conference focused on the implementation of article 27 of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities whilst showcasing best practices of inclusive employment and employment support from across Europe. Put the puzzle together: 2015 EASPD Project Development Workshop
The 2015 edition of EASPD's Project Development Workshop “Put the puzzle together” took place on the 6th of May in Zadar, Croatia and brought together more than 60 participants across Europe eager to discover what is needed to embark on a successful EU-funded project. Read more
European Parliament adopts Resolution on the rights of persons with disabilities
On the 20th of May the European Parliament adopted a resolution in which it expresses its strong support to the full implementation of the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (UN CRPD). It was adopted with an overwhelming majority among the political parties. Read more
ECI DAY 2015: REVIEW, RENEW, RESET!
3 years ago, Article 11 of the Lisbon Treaty introduced the European Citizens' Initiative (ECI) which constitutes the most important instrument for direct democracy at European level. The European and Economic Social Committee's ECI Day focused on evaluating the procedure, drawing on 2 ECI assessment reports. Read more
The Council of Europe to release the toolkit ‘Major Hazards and People with Disabilities’
“Nothing about us without us”. In other words, no decisions should be made about people with disabilities without their direct involvement. This is the message conveyed by the Toolkit on Disability and Disaster Preparedness, which will be presented at a one-day Workshop at the Council of Europe Liaison Office in Brussels. Read more

‘I am a real artist’: July 2015
The Hungarian Special Arts Workshop Association will be holding the 11th Special Arts Festival, ‘I am a real artist' from July 2-6th this year at the Váci Mihály Cultural Centre, Nyíregyháza, Hungary. The festival brings together intellectually disabled artist and audiences to celebrate and support their love of special arts. Read more

Nazareno Società Cooperativa Sociale announces the opening of ‘Irregular Talents' exhibition, dedicated to Irregular Art, at Pinacoteca Nazionale of Bologna, curator Professor Luca Farulli. Read more

EASPD is organising a panel debate with the Members of the European Parliament, the organisations representing persons with disabilities and service providers on how to reinforce “Users’ involvement” in all aspects of service provision. Read more
17-18 September. 'Play, Learn, Grow’: Training on Early Intervention
The training course aims to develop the understanding and expertise of teachers, trainers, headmasters and staff on early intervention for persons with disabilities. The course provides a certificate delivered by a European training organisation. Read more
22 – 23 October. EASPD International Salzburg Conference
Each educational framework and each learning environment is unique, and it is difficult to develop a common strategy on how to develop an inclusive education. EASPD, in cooperation with the projects EQF meets ECVET, INVESTT and TIDE, will showcase a selection of best practices in developing inclusive teaching programmes for persons with disabilities.
