Press release. How to achieve “Housing for all”: community-based, person-centered and hopeful services
On the 9th and 10th October representatives from a variety of different social sectors are together in Oslo, Norway, at the EASPD annual conference “A Home for All”. What is the right to adequate housing? Given the demographic and societal changes, what are the main challenges, obstacles and gaps in protecting this right today but also in the future? Which is the role of social service providers in ensuring the implementation of this right? All these questions have been addressed at the introductory session as well as the plenary session during the first day of the conference. Read more
How can we support persons with disabilities to fully enjoy new technologies?
The digital divide is a fact. People with disabilities still experience difficulties to fully engaging with technology, and this knowledge gap has to be reduced to ensure everyone enjoys the same opportunities. Therefore EASPD, together with AIAS Bologna, organise a set of events from 26 to 29 November 2014 in Bologna (Italy) where participants will be able to deepen their knowledge on how technology and specifically person-centred technology (PCT), can contribute to the European social service providers sector. Press release. Employers in the social services sector must get organised to increase their voice in Europe
For the first time ever, social partners in the social services field came together to discuss the added value of European social dialogue for Employers in the sector, as well as to discuss what topics they would be interested in discussing at European level. The conference, held on 23rd September, brought to an end the second phase of the PESSIS project which aims at promoting employers in the social services sector in social dialogue. Read more

The new structure of the European Commission (EC) has been revealed by its President-elect, Jean-Claude Juncker. Following weeks of rumours, he has officially announced his team’s composition and the different working portfolios. The European Association of Service providers for Persons with Disabilities (EASPD) wants to congratulate all the appointed Commissioners, welcoming in particular the new Commissioner for Employment, Social Affairs, Skills and Labour Mobility, Mrs. Marianne Thyssen and the new Commissioner in charge of Justice, Consumers and Gender Equality, Mrs. Vĕra Jourová. Press Release. Ukrainian conflict: Priority support should be given to people with disabilities
Since the beginning of the Ukrainian conflict in March 2014, there has been a dramatic number of civilian casualties, with figures rising to at least 2,086 people killed and 4,953 wounded in recent weeks. The Ukrainian association "National Assembly of Disabled of Ukraine" and EASPD call on the United Nations and the European Union to pay special attention to the more vulnerable groups when designing and implementing Emergency Aid Programmes. Who has recently joined the EASPD Secretariat’s team?
In the last few weeks the EASPD team in Brussels has been affected by some changes. We said goodbye to Eilis Crowe and Anne Claire Gonzalez and we warmly thank them for their work, wishing them all the best in their future. This farewell was followed by new arrivals. Read more
TTIP: a threat to the quality of social services in Europe
The Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP) is a trade agreement that is currently being negotiated between the European Union and the United States of America. EASPD is in favour of further cooperation, but only if it is in the interest of the people on both sides of the Atlantic, including people with disabilities and those most vulnerable. How do Social Service Providers contribute to Sustainable Growth?
EASPD Secretary General and Social Services Europe (SSE) President, Luk Zelderloo intervened in a Public Hearing organised by the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) to share the service providers' views on the upcoming EU policy agenda for Social Enterprise. Read more
EASPD brings service providers at the international Disaster Risk Reduction conference in Davos
From 24th to 28th August 2014, EASPD took part in the 5th International Disaster and Risk Conference (IDRC) in Davos, Switzerland. Under the title “Integrative Risk Management - The role of science, technology & practice”, this international conference was organised by the Global Risk Forum, a non-profit organisation founded in 1988, in cooperation with the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNISDIR). The event had the scope to provide opportunities for the exchange of knowledge, know-how, and education, in the field of Disaster and Risk Reduction. Read more
“Not Patients, but citizens with rights” project: spreading the European Care Certificate across the continent
The project “No Patients, but citizens with rights” is coming to an end. For that, more than 120 delegates and representatives from the European social sector meet today in the city museum of Ljubljana (Slovenia) at a final conference to analyse the learning results of the intensive work developed during the past two years. T- EST project: European cooperation to support employment for persons with disabilities
On the 19th of September, 95 stakeholders from the T-EST project met inzmir, Turkey, to bring an end to this two years project. The final conference was attended by the main partner organisations, public bodies, employment agencies, universities, research institutions and NGOs working in the field of disability. Read more

International conference "securing career paths and supported employment"
L'ADAPT (Association pour l'insertion sociale et professionnelle des personnes handicapées) will host a conference on “securing career paths and supported employment” on the 20th of November in Paris in the framework of the “Week for the employment of disabled people”. Read more

Shine! The Conference on inclusion and support for persons with a learning disability in Wales
On the 25th and 26th of November, Learning Disabilities Wales will be organising an event called “Shine!” to celebrate achievement and success in the lives of people with a learning disability. Shine! is a two-day event and it will be taken place in Wales. Read more
FEGAPEI launches the guide “European funding”
The EASPD member, the French association FEGAPEI has officially launched the new Guide “European funding”. This guide is primarily intended for professionals working on organisations in the social sector and aims at providing guidance on how to build up a project supported with EU funds. Read more

EASPD's Standing Committee on Education organises a training course aiming at developing understanding and expertise of teachers, trainers, headmasters and school staff on inclusive education for persons with disabilities. Read more

EASPD Interest Group on Person Centered Technology together with AIAS Bologna organise a set of activities, including a one-day training seminar on Person Centred Technologies (PCT) in Bologna, Italy. Read more
EASPD December events - European Day of Persons with Disabilities
Coinciding with the celebration of the European and International Day of Persons with Disabilities, EASPD organises a set of events from the 2nd to the 4th December in Brussels. Most of the events are upon invitation and will be focused on the political work that is currently been carried out by our working groups. Other parallel events are foreseen in Brussels by the European Commission and the Council of Europe. Check out the overview of the key dates and meetings. Read more
