EASPD has started the year 2014 with a new strategy. This strategy gives us the framework for our work and goals until 2017 and is called Reaching Out. Through this strategy we want to make clear that our aim is to allow people with disabilities to enjoy their human rights. For many people with disabilities, social services are enabling them to enjoy those rights – or making it more difficult. Therefore it is crucial to think about what kind of social services we are developing in Europe. Read more
Position paper on the Commission’s Roadmap on Implementation of SIP
EASPD has just issued a position paper on the Commission’s Policy Roadmap for the 2013-2014 implementation of the Social Investment Package. Generally speaking, EASPD supports the Roadmap as a useful implementation document. However, we regretted that persons with disability, nor social services, are considered as a target group. EASPD Response to Latest Consultation related to State Aid
On 12th February, EASPD sent to the European Commission its response to the latest consultation on the General Block Exemption Regulation (GBER) on state aid measures. GBER might not sound the most exciting of topics but the future regulation on the matter is key for many our members.Read more
Briefing paper on the EU ''Youth Guarantee''
To tackle the endemic unemployment of young Europeans, the European Commission and the European Council came to an agreement to establish a “Youth Guarantee at European level”, funded by a budget of 6 billion EUR provided through the “Youth Employment Initiative for 2014-2020”.Read more

Launch of second phase of PESSIS ‘Promoting Employers’ Social Services organisations in Social Dialogue’.
On the 14th and 15th January, the second phase of the PESSIS project was launched in a kick-off meeting organised by the European Platform for Rehabilitation bringing together partners from both European level and national level. Read more
My Rights – My Voice: Persons with learning disabilities become trainers on disability issues!
The main achievement so far in the EU funded project ‘My Rights – My Voice’ is the training of 48 persons with learning disabilities in Bulgaria, Germany, Hungary and the United Kingdom. All participants completed in the course of 2013 a 5-day-training on the content of the UN Convention on the rights of persons with disabilities (UNCRPD) and an additional 20 hour course on how to deliver trainings.Read more
Future Learning with iPads and Tablets - the New Course Program for Erasmus+
As an outcome of the W2ID Project, which involved the participation of EASPD, the Rix Centre (London, UK), FAIDD (Helsinki, Finland) and atempo (Graz, Austria) organised new courses fitting in the new Erasmus+ Programme. Participants will learn and share experiences on how tablets can support inclusion.Read more
24 to 29 July 2014: International Music Festival in Sandanski, Bulgaria
Foundation "Start" has been working for eight years under the initiative of the International Music Festival "Predominance of the Spirit", which aims to involve talented people with disabilities in the cultural and social life of the country by means of expression through art. Read more

Karin Dom Foundation is organising the International Autism Conference 2014, which will be held from 30th May to 1st June at Hotel International, located in the seaside town of Varna - Golden Sands Resort, Bulgaria. Read more
OPEN HEARING on Inclusive Education and Disability in Europe at the European Parliament
The EU and its Member States have signed the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (UNCRPD) that aims to promote, protect and ensure the full and equal enjoyment of all human rights and fundamental freedoms by all persons with disabilities. The UNCRPD covers almost all policy fields and has a strong convergence of objectives with the overall European Disability Strategy 2010-2020, including the priority area of education and training. 3rd International SensAge Conference on Promoting Active Participation of Ageing People with Sensory Disabilities
SensAge project has been created to face the challenges associated with an increasing number of elderly people with sensory impairments. The aim of SensAge is to be the reference point in the European Union for developments in lifelong learning and enablement for ageing people with sensory disabilities in order to maintain their independence and improve their quality of life.
