2015 EASPD Conference in Salzburg on inclusive education

EASPD co-organises the conference "Inclusive teaching programmes: let's develop them together!". The event will take place in Salzburg from the 22 to 23 October and will be a great opportunity to understand what does inclusive education mean and how can it be realised. It will bring together high level speakers representing the academic and educational sector, European institutions, public authorities, representatives from European Disabled People Organisations and the support services sector. The guide on EU Public Procurement Directive released

The Social Platform has released the Guide "Public procurement for social progress" which provides guidance and support for civil servants, contracting authorities, entrepreneurs, and service providers on how to transpose the directive, its implementation and its understanding. As member of the Social Platform, EASPD also contributed to this publication. Download it here. Read more
 

EESC releases the concluding observations of the Thessaloniki conference

On 10 September 2015, the ad Hoc group on Disability of the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) organised a conference in Thessaloniki on "The implementation of the UN CRPD by the EU: Assessing the impact of the UN Committee on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities' concluding observations – The way forward". You can now download the conclusions. Read more
 

EEG to Juncker: use AGS to promote deinstitutionalisation

On the 24th September the European Expert Group on Transition from Institutional to Community-based care sent a letter to Commission President Juncker calling for the Commission to use the Annual Growth Survey (AGS) to promote deinstitutionalisation within the European Union. Read more
 

Commissioner for Human Rights visit in Belgium focused on the rights of persons with disabilities

Nils Muižnieks, Commissioner for Human Rights of the Council of Europe visited Brussels last September to apprehend progress in Belgium with regard to the rights of persons with disabilities. After the visit, CoE Commissioner recommended the development of “a nation-wide commitment to inclusive education in Belgium”. Read more
 

COHEHRE Training Course: Developing and teaching the spiritual dimension of health care

The Cohehre Academy network organises a workshop to explore the spiritual dimension of care and will enable participants to acquire the necessary skills to guide their students in this process. Read more

As part of the DESC project, L’ADAPT and its European partners organise in Brussels an International conference to launch the 2015 European Disability Employment Week. Read more
 

Persons with Disabilities and the digital revolution – state of the art

People with disabilities of all ages are at risk of being excluded from the opportunities offered by the digital revolution. The European project ENTELIS addresses the digital divide by strengthening efforts and facilitating Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) and Assistive Technologies (AT) in educational settings across Europe. Eurlyaid conference – 29 and 30 october 2015

The European conference "Inclusive practices for young children with multiple and severe disabilities: challenges for families and professionals in ECI?" is organised by Dr M. Martinet AIR Besançon, J.J. Detraux CEFES, R. Scelles (University of Nanterre) in collaboration with EAECI - Eurlyaid and with the support of UNAPEI, APF, CESAP and ANECAMSP. Read more
 

Irish government plans to move up 4,000 people with disabilities out of institutions will take more than six years

The Irish Times published an article describing the situation in Ireland with regard to the development of community-based support services to get 4,000 people with intellectual disabilities out of institutions in a six-year period. Since the announcement made by the Irish government in 2011, less than 100 people have been transferred to community-based settings according to the newspaper. Read more
