Call for entries: EASPD PHOTO COMPETITION

In the run-up to its 20th anniversary (#EASPDturns20), the European Association of Service Providers for Persons with Disabilities (EASPD) launches the photo competition Revealed & Unveiled. The photo competition wishes to highlight the work of service providers for persons with disabilities across Europe. Read more

EC Proposal on Long-term Unemployment: a holistic framework with potential

On the 17th September 2015, the European Commission proposed guidance to Member States to better help the 12 million long-term unemployed in Europe back into jobs. EASPD welcomes the efforts made by the EC in this direction. Improvements, however, remain necessary to maximize the impact of the proposals. Read more
 

6 reasons why support services for persons with disabilities can help the EU

The European Association of Service providers for Persons with Disabilities welcomes the United Nations’ final recommendations to the European Union on how to take further steps in the implementation of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD).  EASPD shares the UN concern on the need to establish guidelines with concrete benchmarks and indicators to assess the European Disability Strategy but warns of the danger of neglecting support services for critical issues such as independent living, employment or education. ENIL and CoE call for applications for 2016 study session open

The European Network on Independent Living (ENIL), in cooperation with the Council of Europe, is organising the Study Session “Supporting Young Disabled People to Explore Sexuality and Relationships as Integral to their Social Inclusion and Independent Living”. The call for applications is open until the 12th November. Read more
 

Joint Letter to European Council: Time to act to ensure children’s rights in the EU’s migration policy

59 leading organisations in the fields of human rights, child rights, health and social inclusion, including UNICEF, OHCHR and the European Network of Ombudspersons for Children have sent an open letter to the European Council asking to develop and implement concrete measures towards a comprehensive and rights-based strategy ensuring effective protection for all children affected by migration, including in the upcoming meetings at European level. Online discussion on inclusive education by UNESCO and incluD-ed

UNESCO Education Department and the European Network for Inclusive Education and Disability (incluD-ed) led by Fundación ONCE and co-funded by the European Social Fund, organise an online discussion on inclusive education. Read more

 

PROJECT UPDATES

Persons with Disabilities and the digital revolution – state of the art

People with disabilities of all ages are at risk of being excluded from the opportunities offered by the digital revolution. The European project ENTELIS addresses the digital divide by strengthening efforts and facilitating Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) and Assistive Technologies (AT) in educational settings across Europe. ALDO project final conference in Brussels

On the 13th of November 2015, EASPD will host the Final Event of the project ALDO (Adults with a Learning Disability- Observatory of best practices), where it will be examined the social integration of persons with learning disabilities through education and training and the need to engage learners to prevent early school leaving. A project fair is organized where all projects related to inclusive education can be promoted and discussed. Read more

Unapei launches a campaign against persons with disabilities exiled in Belgium

The Unapei has launched today a campaign against the situation in France where persons with disabilities are exiled in Belgium given the lack of opportunities to stay in their country or community in France. They ask the French government to stop forced exile. According to their data, two thirds of the French persons with disabilities receiving services in Belgium do not come from the border regions.
