EASPD discusses the role of support services at the UN CRPD Conference of States Parties in New York

Since its accreditation to the Conference of States Parties 4 years ago, the European Association of Service providers for Persons with Disabilities (EASPD) has brought to light the role of support services in the implementation of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD) with the United Nations. This year, EASPD is represented in two side events looking at multi-stakeholder cooperation and the reform of social services. Read more

Carrefour Spain and ACCESS Integrationsbegleitung (Germany) are the winners of the “Employment for All Awards”, which were announced on the 15th June 2017 in Belfast during the gala dinner of the 1st World Conference on Supported Employment,  “Employment for All -  A Global Perspective” Conference. The Employment for All Awards recognise the most promising practices towards full inclusion of persons with disabilities in the labour market. The award recognises and celebrates cities which proactively support accessibility for persons with disabilities and take exemplary steps to improve accessibility in the urban environment. PROJECTS NEWS

A very successful DESC project closing conference in Brussels

The final conference of the DESC project took place in the Thon Hotel EU in Brussels on the 21st June. It consisted of a lively debate between policymakers and social service providers on how to promote inclusive employment strategies. Read more 
 

EMISC Third project meeting took place in Budapest on 29-30 of June 2017

The European Mentoring in Social Care project delivers support for the role of mentors in social care at the entry level, with a formal curriculum and mentor training course, a mentoring assessment tool and an exploration of ways of promoting formal recognition of such skills. EASPD attended the second transnational NEWSCAT meeting held in Varna (Bulgaria) on 8-9 June 2017

The partnership discussed a proposal on developing guidelines for assistance methodologies for Customised Accessible Tourism, as well as planned the design and structure of Professional Profile and Competence Model. The partners also discussed an initial proposal on the Training course, distributing responsibilities for the design of Units of Competences among partners. The NEWSCAT project brings together partners from Spain, Belgium, Italy, Bulgaria, Latvia and the Netherlands, with the aim of improving skills and competences of tourist guides, professionals and policy makers to deal with needs and demands of clients with special needs. Pathways project held workshop in Belfast on strategies for professional integration and reintegration for persons with chronic diseases and mental health issues

The Pathways project, in which EASPD is partner, presented the workshop “Strategies for professional integration and reintegration for persons with chronic diseases and mental health issues” in Belfast, United Kingdom on the 14th June 2017. Read more
