While supporting some of the 80 million persons with disabilities currently living in Europe, the Social Care and Support Services Sector represents a diverse range of services as they work to play a key role in enabling people to enjoy their human rights on an equal basis to others at all points of their life.

To better understand this diversity, and to promote the better understanding of the current state of the sector, EASPD has released 28 country factsheets on the on Social Care & Support Services Sector (SCSS) for Persons with Disabilities.

The reports are the result of a three-year long project by EASPD, to produce a comprehensive overview of the Social Care and Support Services Sector in Europe. Created with the support of the Policy Impact Lab, the facts sheets reflect the state of play of the social care and support services for persons with disabilities at a national level.

With 28 factsheets, one for for every Member State, each factsheets address:

  • the type of services available for the different life-course stages (e.g. Early Childhood Intervention, Education Support, Employment Support, Day Care, Living Support, Long-Term Institutional Care and Respite Care, Leisure and Social-Life Support);
  • the nature of service providers in each of the indicated service subsectors;
  • their target groups (age range, type of disability);
  • their financing and governance; as well as
  • any plans for substantial reform or regulation relating to this type of service delivery.

The reports, which are available below and on EASPD's D-Lot platform will be used to provide evidence-based information to support policy developments for the sector and promotion of innovation in support services across Europe.
