6th Edition Building an inclusive school for all!: European training course on inclusive education

Sunday 4th - Friday 9th July 2021, Pristina, Kosovo

The 6th edition of the European Association of Service Providers for People with Disabilities (EASPD) training course on inclusive education aims to develop the understanding and expertise of teachers, trainers, headmasters and school staff on inclusive education for persons with disabilities. The course provides a certificate delivered by a European organisation.
 

Course Contents

The course offers a framework for the further development and promotion of inclusive education, as well as a hands-on experience in the planning of such an approach.

The course's programme will cover:

  • The UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities
  • The Index for inclusion:
  • Universal Design for Learning
  • Curriculum differentiation within a national curriculum
  • A school visit to see inclusive education in practice.
  • Opportunities for inclusive school assistance

Methodology

Information and discovery sessions will alternate with discussion groups, peer group support and reflection sessions. The methods used will offer in the first place an individual learning pathway, supported by a reflection and learning portfolio.
 

Participants

The course provides a safe learning environment for school headteachers, middle management, teachers and teaching assistants, educational guides and counsellors, inspectors and administrative staff willing to challenge their mind and to engage in a 5-day course to learn and discover with and from colleagues in an international setting how to move towards inclusive education. It also addresses external support people, including coordination staff of education and social support services.
 

Trainers

The course is coordinated by the Member Forum on Education of EASPD and organised by a consortium of European organisations and universities involved in the development of inclusive education across Europe. The tutors will include Annemie Jennes (VSKO, Belgium), Marleen Clissen (VSKO, Belgium), Wolfgang Plaute (Pädagogische Hochschule Salzburg, Austria) amongst other guest trainers.

Training Institution:

The European Association of Service providers for Persons with Disabilities is a non-profit European umbrella organization, established in 1996, and currently representing over 17,000 social and support services for persons with disabilities. EASPD advocates for effective and high-quality disability-related services in the field of education, employment and individualised support, in line with the UN CRPD principles, which could bring benefits not only to persons with disabilities, but to society as a whole.
 
EASPD’s Standing Committee on Education supports the work of the organisation in the field of education. The Standing Committee cooperates in projects dealing with education and follows-up the political developments in the field.  Working alongside other important stakeholders the Standing Committee uses its know-how and contacts to support the development of an open and inclusive educational system in Europe. 
 

Course Fee:

The course fee is €150 including training, lunches, coffee breaks, one group dinner as well as local transport to and from the train station and cultural activiites during the week. This fee does not include travel to Pristina, Kosovo, accommodation or any other meals. The course will be held at Hotel Sirius, Pristina, Kosovo.
