Following the summer break, EASPD is back at work, refreshed and re-invigorated.
Earlier this week, we held an online webinar on “Early Childhood Intervention in Europe: How can the EU support children with disabilities from the very first step?”. With the European Commission’s public consultation on an EU Child Guarantee still open, the webinar was an important opportunity to raise awareness about how children with disabilities -and their families- can be supported. The outcome was a clear message to European policy-makers: the Child Guarantee has to be inclusive and improving access to early childhood intervention will be key to achieving this.
With the EU also negotiating its long-term budget, we are also busy on the EU funds front with a series of webinars and the launch of our Toolkit on the “next EU Budget: Engage Now to Benefit Later”. The EU’s Recovery Plan, with a budget estimated at €1.8 trillion, can open up many funding opportunities for the sector. This includes updated programmes like the European Social Fund + and new instruments such as the Recovery and Resilience Facility, made up of €100s billions to support public investment and policy reforms. The Webinars are the opportunity to discuss the key to accessing these funds: act now and engage the relevant authorities at national level to ensure you are in their plans.
And this is just for starters, on the 14th and 15th October we will be holding our Annual Autumn Conference online together with COPE Foundation and the European Network of Cultural Centres. “The Art of Inclusion- Diversity and Access in Arts and Culture” will be a truly unique experience…so watch out for registrations launching very soon!
