Social services contribute to and are affected by climate change.
As a major sector in Europe, employing over 11 million people, social services contribute to climate change through activities linked to their resource consumption, procurement methods and waste management. On the other hand, social services – and the service beneficiaries – are also affected by climate change; for instance, extreme weather episodes, impact on public budgets and sustainability measures.
Social services are not exempt from the Green Transition and serious thought is needed as to how this can be done. For this reason, the European Association of Service providers for Persons with Disabilities (EASPD) is organising a webinar to launch a new Study on the “European Green Deal and Social Services”. The Webinar will aim at responding to the following questions:
- What actions need to be taken by social services to improve the ecological impact of their activities?
- How can public authorities facilitate this Green Transition?
- What is the role of the European Union’s Green Deal?
Join us on the 7th of April to learn more about the “Green” dimension to social service provision, what steps need to be taken and what opportunities there are at European level for funding such changes.
