European Commission Release Country-Specific Recommendations for Member States

Want to know what actions the European Commission recommends for your government?

On 23rd May 2018 the European Commission released 2018 Country-Specific Recommendations (CSRs), setting out its economic policy guidance for Member States for the next 12 to 18 months.
Alongside the CSRs the Commission also launched  a Communication on the Country Specific Recommendations 2018. This Communication presents the European Commission’s overall assessment of their CSRs across the 27 reports, as well as an analysis of the implementation of past CSRs by Member States.

EASPD has released its own Summary Report of the CSRs, highlighting the areas which most affect EASPD’s membership.

In its Communication the European Commission focused more on sustainable, inclusive and long-term growth.

The recently proclaimed European Pillar of Social Rights was featured and the Commission encouraged Member States “to advance national reforms addressing the three dimensions of the Pillar: equal opportunities and access to the labour market, fair working conditions and social protection and inclusion.”

The Commission’s communication also addressed the areas of long-term care, employment, education, social services and public procurement, highlighting possible areas for reform.
