The consortium of the Erasmus+-funded SKILLS project (Improving the Skills and Competencies in Self-Directed Support) is pleased to invite you to the European Conference “Self-Directed Support in Europe,” taking place on September 16, 2019 in Brussels.
The international conference is co-organised by EASPD, Centre for Welfare Reform, ANFFAS, KVPS and In Control Scotland. It will provide an overview of the state of play on Self-directed support in different European countries, showcase the training materials developed by the EU-funded SKILLS project on self-directed support for different stakeholders and discuss how to help get things forward.
What do we mean by Self-directed support? Self-directed support (SDS) is a system to organise the help people need so the person has as much control as possible. It aims to improve the lives of people with social care needs by empowering them to be equal partners in decisions about their care and support. For example: SDS allows people to choose how their support is provided and gives them as much control as they want of their individual budget.
