The EU Agency for Fundamental Rights (FRA), EU’s centre of fundamental rights expertise, published three reports about the topic “from institutions to community living”. Discussions are under way at the European Union (EU) and national levels about how best to realize this transition. There’s a great variety in the way countries are planning to tackle the issue. But what’s certain, is that countries need good local social services if they are going to support people to live independently in the community.
The FRA are currently in the process of translating these reports, to make them more accessible to everyone.
More recently the FRA have released Bulgarian, Finnish, Italian and Slovak versions of the report, available here.
