Initiative by EASPD member wins Belgian Innovation Award

The start-up Lichtwerk is an initiative set up by EASPD member Groep Gidts, in cooperation with Mariasteen, Emino and Molendries. Lichtwerk wants to provide a solution to the fact that production processes are getting more and more complex. How can people who work in these processes be helped so they are able to keep up with new technologies?

The answer according to Lichtwerk is using technology to help people. By using Light Guide Systems, which project work instructions, and collaborative robots who help when doing precision work or literally lend an extra hand when needed. Lichtwerk believes that assistive technology can help to overcome barriers for people who want to enter the workforce.

Lisa Messely, who works for Groep Gidts on Research and Innovation, knew that Lichtwerk had to apply for the award because: “We join forces, exchange experience and share our network. This is how Lichtwerk makes the difference.”

The Belgian award ‘Radical Innovators’ wants to highlight solutions for a better climate and a better world. The competition was open to citizens, companies, governments, or other societal actors. The participants were people and organisations that have ideas about a better world and act on those ideas, trying to change the system from within.
