International Conference in Finland on Self-directed Support

Self Directed Support creates social and healthcare services that are based on human rights and have sustainable impact on people's lives. But how can we create a shared vision of the next development activities that are based on promising practices?

The international Conference on Self directed Support  'Leading the Way' will take place in Helsinki on the 29th August 2019. It is organised by the Finnish Association on Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (FAIDD) and Service Foundation for People with an Intellectual Disability (KVPS) and will bring together three experts in the field.

Speakers of the conference:
John O’Brien, learns about building more inclusive communities for people with disabilities, their families, and their allies. He has been in the forefront of thinking and creating precedent setting innovations that helped to create full lives for people with disability labels the world over.

Kate Fulton led some of the first Personalisation pilots in the UK and has spent the last 6 years in Western Australia supporting the development of national disability service reform. She is passionate
about rethinking how organisations can support the full inclusion of people who are marginalised.

Simon Duffy is Director of the Centre for Welfare Reform and secretary to Citizen Network a global cooperative. Simon is a philosopher and social innovator who works to improve the welfare system.

The event is for anyone interested in inclusion and promotion of good life. This event includes an admission fee. Interpretation Finnish English Finnish.

Participants have the opportunity to participate in a workshop on August 30th.
