It's Provider Fora Month this June at EASPD!

Provider Forums (PFs) are national seminars organized by EASPD in collaboration with members aimed to strengthen the voice of service providers at national level and to engage in a dialogue with national service providers. The forums offer an opportunity for service providers to network, discuss key challenges and approaches for the service provision sector in their country and learn about EU relevant policies and funding opportunities.

EASPD Regional Balkan Provider Forum - Early Childhood Intervention Services: A stepping stone in developing inclusive communities
3 June 2021, 10:00 - 12:15 CEST

The early childhood period is the most important developmental phase which determines the well-being, quality of health, learning and social-emotional behaviour of an individual. Extensive research has shown that high quality early childhood intervention (ECI) services can change a child’s developmental trajectory and improve outcomes for children, families, and communities at large. EASPD together with The Republic Center for Support of persons with Intellectual Disability – PORAKA (North Macedonia) are organising the 2nd edition of EASPD Regional Provider Forum which will bring forward models of good practice in early childhood intervention from across the Balkan region.

By highlighting these practices, we aim to provide a source of inspiration for other support services, decision-makers, and professionals willing to develop or improve ECI services and programmes in their communities across the Balkan region and beyond.

EASPD Hungary Provider Forum: A Paradigm shift in comprehensive care for people with disabilities
7 June 2021, 09:00 - 12:10 CEST

During the socialist system in Hungary, large institutions were in operation and citizens did not have the right to comment on their functioning. However, in the last 30 years, non-governmental organisations began to play an important role in the new social system. NGOs launched a new way of thinking in the care of people with disabilities, highlighting the personal needs of people with disabilities instead of an institutional care approach.

This process of demolishing large institutions is currently underway and a paradigm shift in the thinking and attitudes of those working in public institutions has also begun. The aim of this forum, jointly organised by EASPD, ETA Association and Civic Advocacy Network, is to continue this process of deinstitutionalisation and to strengthen NGOs in such a way that they will be able not only to work professionally and with opinion, but also to become the engines and implementers of change in Hungary.

EASPD Czech Republic Provider Forum: Healthy ageing for persons with disabilities
10 June 2021, 09:30 - 12:00 CEST

As the world’s population is ageing, many of us, regardless of disability, may develop a range of support needs, making the provision of services an urgent issue for social welfare systems. Older persons with disabilities face great challenges to live in dignity and equality, often losing their access to support services as they tend to be no longer considered as a person with a disability but as an “old” person.

Those breaches of the principle of equality demonstrate the need to improve the awareness of common and specific challenges. This Provider Forum, hosted by Slezská diakonie, will be an opportunity for service providers from the Czech Republic and beyond to know more about the EU framework around ageing and good practices in ensuring a healthy ageing for persons with disabilities.
