Despite being a fundamental human right, it is not always easy for persons with disabilities to exercise their legal rights, especially for those suffering from severe mental conditions. Plus, such discrimination was exacerbated even further by the Covid-19 pandemic. The Just4All project wants to change this by promoting access to justice for persons with disabilities by raising awareness among legal practitioners on their needs, as well as by developing an ad hoc training for practitioners on this topic co-funded by the EU Justice Programme (2014-2020). The ultimate goal of the Just4All project is to ensure compliance with the European Charter of Fundamental Rights, the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities and the EU legislation on disability. The Just4All project has produced a free Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) for legal practitioners. It aims to train legal professionals on the subject and raise awareness in order to guarantee full access to justice for persons with disabilities. Lawyers and notaries are strongly encouraged to participate, but all legal practitioners are welcome to join. Such training course was developed following seminars and exchanges between project partners and various legal and disability experts.
The development of this training course was the result of the cooperation between EASPD, Fundación ONCE, the European Disability Forum, Thomson Reuters Aranzadi and the Human Rights Institute 'Gregorio Peces Barba' of Carlos III University of Madrid, who joined forces for the Just4All project. The course is available in English, French and Spanish.
