Launch of the Team-Up! project to promote access to sports for persons with intellectual disabilities.

On 21-22nd January project partners from Croatia, Spain, Greece and Romania came together in Brussels, for the TeamUp! project kick-off meeting. Over the next 2 years the Erasmus+ project will promote social inclusion and equal opportunities in sport by improving access to sport for People with disabilities in mainstream structures
 
Representing service providers, sports association and academia and coordinated by EASPD, the project partners will work together to support the correct implementation of European policies on sports, in particular the White Paper on Sport, the EU Physical Activities Guidelines, the Council's Recommendation to promote health-enhancing physical activity (HEPA) and the European Disability Strategy 2010-2020.
 
The kick-off meetin in provided the partners with the oppurtunity to together outline the main features of project’s outputs which include:

  • a tool for community mapping at local level to facilitate legal frameworks for inclusion;
  • a joint training course for sports professionals; and
  • the creation of a community of practice at national level to link persons with intellectual disabilities and persons without disability to team up.

The project meeting was also an important occasion for project partners to set the basis for common agreements and commitments on each partners’ tasks, roles and activities.
