EASPD launches the debate on how the Sustainable Development Goals can support inclusive communities for persons with disabilities
During the EASPD international conference taking place in Podgorica, Montenegro, on the 26-27 October, 170 professionals from Europe and beyond gathered to debate the Sustainable Development Goals and their link to the realisation of supportive and inclusive communities. The event was organised in cooperation with the Petrović Njegoš Foundation, the Centre de la Gabrielle and Egart. Read more
EASPD, representatives from the European institutions, and other stakeholders will meet on the 23 November for a roundtable discussion on the EU Working Time Directive on Social Rights, hosted by EP Georgi Pirinski. The event will explore what can be done to ensure that the EU WTD contributes to the effective implementation of the European Pillar of Social Rights; in terms of creating enabling services and decent jobs. The Federation of European Social Employers (FESE) was set-up and launched on the 20th October in Brussels. FESE will aim to take part in European Social Dialogue, representing social services employers towards the European institutions and contribute to a more social and inclusive Europe. The European Association of Service providers for Persons with Disabilities (EASPD) has been actively engaged in helping national Employers set-up FESE over the past few years and fully welcomes the Federation’s creation. European Commission: Response to EASPD supported petition on the European Union's Public Procurement Directive
With the support of EASPD, our member Kehitysvammaisten Palvelusäätiö (KVPS) submitted a petition to the European Parliament Committee regarding the European Union’s Public Procurement Directive. The petition disputed the Directive’s national implementation in Finland which was believed to have resulted in disability based discrimination. Read more
