On the 26th of June, The European Network for Accessible Tourism (ENAT) organises a General Assembly. Also on 26th June at VisitFlanders, following the Annual General Assembly, ENAT members, partners and stakeholders from the public sector, tourism businesses and NGOs are warmly invited to the open Launch Event of the ‘World Tourism for All Quality Programme’.
This new Quality Programme provides a guided pathway for tourism operators leading to the World Tourism for All Quality Label, recognising commitment to access for all, enhancing staff competence and ensuring first-class customer service. At the Launch Event, the main features of the Quality Programme will be presented and the first hotel establishments and trainees to complete the Programme will receive their certificates.
Europe - like other parts of the world - lacks many appropriate accessibility provisions for the general population. This is a problem which affects many people both in their daily lives and also as tourists. Physical access and access to information are often less than adequate in transport, at tourist destinations, in accommodation and all kinds of venues and attractions. This lack of accessibility has a direct and negative effect on tourist numbers (both inbound to Europe and within Europe) and on the quality of tourism destinations and products. By introducing standards of excellence sustainable, responsible and accessible tourism in line with the goals and principles of The Global Code of Ethics for Tourism can be developed and promoted.
Registration for this event is required. You can download and fill in the registration Form by entering the event page, by Thursday 21st June at the latest.
