On the 5th October form 14h00-16h00 CEST EASPD will hold its first online Policy Café on the Child Guarantee and the European Disability Strategy. The Café will provide an opportunity for EASPD members to provide feedback to the EASPD policy team on how EU policies can better support their work at a national level.

Open Letter to the Council of Europe’s Committee of Ministers and Committee on Bioethics regarding the Draft Additional Protocol to the Oviedo Convention


The Council of Europe is being called on by social care organisations to withdraw a draft protocol according to which measures as confinement, isolation, binding, drugging and electroshock would be used as a medical treatment in mental health care facilities. While working on a protocol allegedly intended to shelter persons suffering from mental conditions, the Committee on Bioethics of the Council of Europe is actually trying to find ways to force patients undergo interventions.

Survey: Disability and the Performing Arts Sector in Europe: Building Knowledge, Sharing Experience, Looking for Solutions


On commission of the British Council, the international cultural mobility network On The Move has launched a survey to collect data about disabilities and performing arts. The focus is on the knowledge on how to make performances accessible for both audiences and artists with disabilities, in order to identify the main barriers that still prevent the world of arts from being fully inclusive in Europe. This study is carried out in the framework of the large-scale project Europe Beyond Access and co-funded by the Creative Europe programme of the European Union.
