The widespread realisation of high-quality, person-centred, community-based support relies on the development and implementation of effective policies at both a European and national level.
By engaging with policy-makers and other relevant stakeholders, support service providers have the opportunity to influence the policy making process and ensure that the appropriate legislation and resources are available to deliver human rights-based services to those with support needs.
With the growth of social media, it may be much easier to reach target audiences, including policy makers, via a number of communication channels. This growth has been joined by a growth in social media users and so it has also become far more difficult to be heard and understood by those that we wish to reach.
Ensuring that our engagement is well planned is more necessary than ever in the digital era. To support its members, to effectively engage policy makers and general audiences, in the issues that are of greatest importance to them EASPD’s Communications Network with host their upcoming webinar ‘Making an Impact: Engagement with policy makers’ on 11th December 12:00-13:00 CET.
The webinar will include speakers for the European Disability Forum and Unapei who will share their experience and knowledge of effectively engaging with policy makers at both a European and national level.
