On 24th-25th October the Academy of European Law (ERA) with, the support of the EFC Disability Thematic Network and the European Disability Forum (EDF) will host a two-day training seminar on the equal participation in society of persons with disabilities.
Held in Trier, Germany, the training will aim to explain how to tackle discrimination against persons with disabilities from different perspectives. Participants, who will namely be national civil servants and staff of NGOs, will learn about the EU action and legal framework adopted with a view to improving equal participation of persons with disabilities in society.
Key topics of the seminar will include:
- Key features of the UNCRPD
- Discrimination based on disability
- Accessibility and universal design
- EU funding and financial instruments in the field of disability
Speakers will include EASPD’s own Development Manager, Ms Carmen Arroyo de Sande, who will be speaking on the availability and access to EU funding and financial instruments in line with the UNCRPD.

There is no seminar fee and selected participants can receive up to €360 reimbursement for their travel costs, two hotel nights will also be booked and paid directly by ERA.
