Last week, the European Association of Service providers for Persons with Disabilities (EASPD) organised its first Social Services Week. One main message appeared throughout: COVID-19 has re-affirmed the need to strengthen a disability services system built on the principles of the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. The European Union should help forge a space for innovation in the sector.

European networks have joined forces and signed a joint statement calling on the EU to ensure that every citizen has the right to decent work in an open and inclusive labour market.

At the annual Conference of States Parties to the UN CRPD on the 3rd of December, EASPD co-organised an event with the European Commission to address the barriers faced of persons with disabilities in accessing the arts and culture sector.
