EASPD Side Event at the Conference of States Parties to the CRPD (COSP)

The renewed interest in Europe over the development of quality frameworks for disability support services has sparked new initiatives from public authorities, organisations of persons with disabilities, service providers, and researchers. These stakeholders seek to address the need to improve the quality of services by measuring their impact on the quality of life of the people they support. They also seek to ensure that these measurement systems are adaptable, person-centred, and based on the principles of the UN CRPD.

With this Side Event, the organisers wish to discuss recent developments, both in theory and practice, in designing and implementing quality frameworks. The event will also focus on how public authorities, civil society organisations and persons with support needs can work together to shape the future of services and contribute to building more inclusive societies, particularly so in the context of the next generation of services emerging from the COVID-19 pandemic.
